You can call it retro-futurist or simply old-fashioned synth-pop but Splash Wave makes the kind of music which calls up a scrolling of synthetic landscapes, some pixelated scenes of chase and three-color printed memories shooted somewhere between L.A and Düsseldorf.
NEW TRACK OUT
Listen to their new track “Theme for two cool guys at the beach” from BEKO-DSL summer compilation.
” Theme from two cool guys at the beach appears to have stolen the best beats from era and condensed them into a 4 minute joyride.” The Pigeon Post
“Brilliant. I can’t help but imagine our pale bods on the beach being slathered with Ban du Soleil by the cast of Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing Video.” Then, at like 2:02 Chevy Chase as Fletch runs by, followed by a gang of angry sea lions. The camera pans to follow them then, back to us buried to our necks in sand at like 2:30. The sand then morphs into a giant tub of bouillabaisse and we float to safety on giant croutons with the help of Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley.” Bryan Lasley (Weave!)
I THINK THEY LIKE SPLASH WAVE …
“Summer stunner Splash Wave with their irresistibly-fun track straight from the annals of a Saved By The Bell beach volleyball episode.” Weekly Tape Deck
“Splash Wave sounds like a soundtrack from a crossover between alf and miami vice“. Anonymous fan
“Personally, i’m a fan“. Rubin Steiner
“Splash Wave demonstrated nothing but efficiency and professionalism in their BB&MP remix (click here to listen). 10 out of 10. They should brush up on their spelling though, ‘doods’.” Joe Howe (Ben Butler & Mousepad)
“There’s talent and ingenuity seeping from every song. (…) The eighties did a lot of things, and nostalgia is an absolute bore, but a bit of look back is alright when the result is something as startlingly brilliant as this.” The Pigeon Post (read the complete review here)
