IVETA PLNÀ

“Iveta Plnà’s paintings, simple, yet disturbing, explores the essence of mystery in our daily life. Her paintings show still lives from carefully selected objects and scenes which in their composition creates an open narrative. The viewer is invited to continue the story which lead up to the constallations in her paintings. Plnà’s work, inspired by the obscure history of Czech horror films as well as scenes and interiors from her surroundings manages to capture a mental displacement where we can introduce our own imagination and associations into her compositions. Her colours nearly toned down into monochrome, solumnly linger in the streetlights passing in through windows grime with city dust. Plnà is placing herself into the light of horror films which inspire her and bring in symbolic gestures from her personal life that triggers our imagination into the horrific, the personal, the ironic/comical and the melancholy mystery”- Anders Grønlien. Iveta Plnà, born in 1981, lives and works in Praha, Czech Republic
