LAURA KENNEDY OF THE BUSH TETRAS

 In Tippex misc

In 2007 Julie Tippex had the pleasure to bring the legendary BUSH TETRAS over to Europe for a couple of shows. Although Laura was not a touring member at that time we are very sad to hear about her passing.

Laura Kennedy, original bassist and co-founder of the no wave group Bush Tetras, died on Monday due to complications from Hepatitis C. She had been struggling with the disease for over 20 years, and had received a liver transplant in 2008.

Bush Tetras were one of the hidden gems of the New York no wave scene in the late 70s and eary 80s, and though only a few of her songs reached public notoriety their influence has been confessed by many, including Thurston Moore or members of Television.

Through these last years Laura has generously shared in her blog some of her thoughts towards such a difficult situation, with a powerful, honest and warm writing, and it will be her amazing bass lines and true passion for life what will remain in our hearts.

Our deep sympathy and condolences to Laura’s family and friends.

A breathtaking performance of Too Many Creeps
