Over more than 15 years, Julie Tippex has established itself as an agency that is able to develop projects at the crossroads of music, visual arts, writing and film. Since 2007 it’s focus has particularly been on artists who have made a cultural impact within the past fifty years of music history, working with the likes of Young Marble Giants, Jeff Mills, ESG, Kim Fowley, The Make Up, Saravah, Glenn Branca, Faust, Tony Conrad, amongst many many others. As well as this historical element, the agency has welcomed more maverick talents: artists who have expanded the imagination of performance and music or who work at the edges of conventional artistic practice, such as Pierre Bastien and his automated music machines, Jad Fair and his paper cuttings, Ghedalia Tazartès and his unique embodied music. The agency has also championed newer artists who will embody this tradition in the future, supporting them in starting and sculpting their own new languages, such as the cinematic crossover of Zombie Zombie, the postmodern pop deconstruction of The Chap, or the sonic brinksmanship of Tomaga. Julie Tippex also works or worked in regular partnership with several world class art institutions that include Palais de Tokyo, Fondation Cartier, Paris’ Philarmonie, the Louvre Museum, The Barbican Centre, The British Film Institute, Lieu Unique and is also behind the program, since 2005, of Festival BBmix in Paris.

IRM: Pierre Bastien & Philippe Dupuy
Renowed French musician Pierre Bastien and cartoonist Philippe Dupuy have decided to collaborate and present a concert, aiming to push the concept of “music+drawings” to its maximum. Pierre plays with the machines he created; Philippe is drawing, live, on paper, retro-projector and graphic palette – but the papers are amplified, we wll hear the pencil strokes or brushes, the cameras installed on machines shoot the drawings, which physically integrate the machines, playing with them. An infinity of possibilities that the two artists developped during a residency in October 2018 at L’Avant-Scène de Cognac, France.
