EXTRA LIFE TO RELEASE NEW RECORD
We’re still stonished by the sound of “Righteous Seed“, the new song from the sharp art-rockers Extra Life that came out last week, and can’t wait for their forthcoming album, Dream Seeds, wich will be released on April 10 on Northern Spy Records in US and on May 7 on Africantape in Europe and Japan.
As some of you may know, Extra Life was formed in 2007 by singer/keyboardist Charlie Looker after he left the cult math noise band Zs, and following collaborations with genious such Glenn Branca or Dirty Projectors. After some lineup changes, the band has steadied as a trio with guitarist/violinist producer Caley Monahon-Ward and drummer Nick Podgurski.
As they state in their blog, “Dream Seeds is definitely a concept album, the themes of which I won’t elaborate on here, but it’s very much of a piece. The record includes all the previously unrecorded songs we’ve been playing live for the past year, plus a couple never-performed songs, all tough-lovingly recorded by Extra Life’s own Caley Monahon-Ward, in collaboration with Ben Greenberg”.
Superb art design by Caroline Teagle.
Track List:
1. No Dreams Tonight
2. Righteous Seed
3. Discipline for Edwin
4. Little One
5. First Song
6. Blinded Beast
7. Ten Year Teardrop
Last but not least, today we also celebrate the release of The Africantape 10″, with Charlie Looker in its credits.
The two song ep by Hazel-Rah’s, the main project of Tim Byrnes, has been recorded on tape by Colin Marston (Dysrhythmia, Krallice) and captures a performance that includes the mentioned Tim Byrnes and Charlie Looker of course, plus Adam Minkoff and David Andrew Moore.
Extra Life, on tour in France, mid May – mid June.
